, you probably walk around with the sense of unease that at any time, you could experience a major panic attack. This fear most probably keeps you from venturing out. There are techniques to overcoming panic and anxiety attacks and experiencing freedom from the fear of another attack.
When people feel this state of apprehension or fear, performing simple daily tasks can become a huge chore. They may even start to fear driving in traffic, going to the store, going on a date, going on an airplane, etc. Many others will fear leaving their safety zones or simply any situations where they have to perform certain
responsibilities. This leads to the person's anxiety level being very high.
Panic and anxiety attacks can be eliminated by using simple steps regardless of how long the anxiety or fear has been a debilitating condition for the sufferer.
The Fear
An important difference between someone who has overcome panic attacks and someone who is still in bondage to the condition is simply that the person who has overcome the condition is no longer afraid of panic attacks.
The trick to overcoming this fear once and for all is to invite the panic attack. Once you face the fear and embrace it, it will no longer have power over you. This is simply because what you resist persists. If you resist a situation out of fear, the fear simply multiplies and does not go away.
How to stop resisting
Simply try right now to have a panic attack and I am certain that you cannot. The idea of summoning a panic attack may be scary in the beginning but it is very necessary for healing to occur. Consistently invite this fear and see what happens.
Although it may sound ludicrous, in your subconscious mind, you have always made the decision to panic by thinking that you were powerless in the midst of the attack. To overcome this, you have to decide not to panic in the midst of the anxiety or the fear. To do this you have to embrace the fear and implement techniques that cause the fear to leave because it no longer has the power. You have the power.
Having a panic attack is similar to standing on the edge of a cliff. The anxiety seems to be pushing you over the edge and as you keep fighting it, the worse you feel.
To overcome this fear, you have to see yourself in your mind's eye jump over the cliff.
You simply make the decision to jump into the eye of the storm by wanting to have a panic or anxiety attack. You simply go through your day by asking or daring the panic or anxiety attack to appear. You do this because you know that the panic or anxiety attack has no power to hurt you.
Your body or your sense may be in a heightened state especially at the beginning of implementing this technique but you have to keep in mind that no harm shall come to you.
You always were safe. You simply believed the lie of impending doom. Take the step to take your power back by asking for the panic attack. Have the courage to go through the attack to see if any harm comes to you instead of fleeing because you think you are going to die.
Once you think about all of the panic attacks you have had in the past, was there any lasting physical damage to you? Did you die?
