Preparing to Relocate to the Carolinas
It's a daunting task moving from one location where you know everyone
, have the support of family, friends, and longtime neighbors to retiring or relocating to a place in North Carolina or South Carolina where you know no one!
It's made even harder by the fact that once you get there, you now not only know no one, but you also know nothing! That's right, you don't know where your favorite restaurant is anymore, you don't know where to go to the doctor or dentist, you don't know where to get you hair and nails done etc.
You get the idea...you know no one and nothing!
However, with a bit of planning and following a couple of my "insider tips", retirement and relocation in the Carolinas can be a Great Adventure, as well as an awesome growing and learning experience.
Here's some tips...
Visit, Visit, Visit...I always tell my subscribers to make multiple visits to the place they're considering. Nothing beats being there and talking to everyone you meet! Speak to the retail store owners, cab drivers, restaurant owners and servers, hotel managers, town clerk, and people in the building department. Get comfortable with the area!
Start making friends and establishing familiar faces. You'll see how quick the restaurant, hotel, and retail people know who you are after just a couple of visits. It starts to create an anchor for you.
Subscribe to the local paper, so you can keep up with the events and developments in the area.
Join some of the local clubs or religious organizations similar to ones you belong to at home. You can attend their events or meetings when you visit, and keep in touch with members you meet by email or phone.
With so many people interested in retiring or relocating to North Carolina and South Carolina, many towns host "Exploration Weekends" for visitors. Take part in these events to meet people who are in the same boat as you.
These are a few ways to get an insider's point of view about areas in North Carolina and South Carolina as well as starting to establish connections, so when you move to your Best Place to live in the Carolinas, you'll already have someone with whom to go to enjoy dinner or play a round of golf, and I'm sure they'll know where to get the best ribs or get your nails done!
When you get there, it will then feel much more like home!
