. Yes it seems that in the modern the day the shunt towards a greener way of life is becoming more real than ever. With the worlds resources being gradually depleted and the environment becoming damaged further the search for practical and appropriate renewable energy sources has never been so important.

Theres no doubt that fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas have served us well, burning them in huge power stations has provided energy for all, offering people warmth in their homes and petrol in their cars. However these energy sources are not renewable they take millions of years to form and are being consumed at an alarming rate. As fossil fuels are pushed closer and close to extinction they are becoming increasingly expensive, any drivers will certainly be aware of this. Furthermore, non-renewable energy resources also tend to harm the environment and even people. CO2 emissions are quickly becoming an issue and are furthering global warming, which brings with it many problems of its own. To obtain coal mining is necessary, this is actually one of the most dangerous careers known to man, in addition to destroying land, and polluting air and water, coal pollution is known to shorten the lifespan of people who are exposed to it.

With non-renewable energy sources on their way out, it seems that our best hope is to look for sustainable renewable energy sources. These types of energy sources will often harness natural energy such as the wind, rain, tides, and solar power. The suns energy can be harnessed by using solar panels that can then be used to heat homes, create electricity, and heat water. After the initial effort that is required to install solar panels there is nothing left to do except for let the sun provide the energy. Wind turbines have also been proved to be quite effective in harnessing energy, although these do take up a significant amount of space and many people will deem them an eye sore, though surely they are nothing when compared to a power station. Similarly the force of water moving can be used to generate electricity too, dams can be used to funnel river water through one turbine; this is an extremely effective method for generating electricity.

Using renewable energy sources has a number of advantages, and many people are already starting to catch on to this and have solar panels stored on their house. This type of installation might be expensive initially but it can often lead to some quite significant savings in the long term.
