Raymarine C80 – Your Constant Companion On The High Seas

Navigating through the ocean has always been a difficult task

, and in the past it required many skills. Using tools such as a sextant, compass, and log, a navigator would have to make many precise calculations based on speed, time, and direction, in order to track the vessel's movements, and continue to know its position. The navigator had to be precise in every aspect of his work, and constantly monitor the changes in his calculations just one incorrect piece of data could result in a potential shipwreck.

However, we now live in the dawn of a new age of technology, and most mariners use advancedGPS chartplotters to navigate the seas. With the modern GPS system, in which a receiver on your boat interprets signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, you can know your exact location to within a few feet.

A wide variety of functions are combined into one single compact display, making theRaymarine C80 the perfect choice for your vessel. At any time, it may be configured as a stand-alone chartplotter, digital fishfinder, or radar, and it contains inputs for GPS Sensor, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Marine Weather, and the HD Digital sounder module. Having the Raymarine C80 on board means that finding the best fishing spots will be a breeze, and you needn't worry about the chances of running aground or happening upon a sudden storm.

The Raymarine C80 has a very user-friendly display interface, and even beginners with no experience will be able to use it immediately. You can also create custom windows of any combination of chartplotter, radar, or sonar. Thanks to the Twist N' Click Rotary control, alphanumeric waypoint storage is also provided. The C80 uses advanced LCD display technologies for the 8.4" direct sunlight viewable, 256 color waterproof display, which has the perfect contrast and a wide angle screen for easy viewing. It also uses prismatic light enhancing screens, complete with integrated anti-glare filters, in order to keep the display sharp and clear throughout even the most challenging lighting conditions. With the Raymarine C80 on board, you never need to worry about extreme weather conditions.

If you want to configure the C80 to act as a stand-alone GPS chartplotter, all you need to do is simply connect an optional Raystar GPS Sensor and choose Navionics charts, in order to display the GPS charting system. Included features within the chartplotter include support for professional quality Navionics vector charts on CompactFlash, fast chart screen redraw, 256 color high resolution display, AIS Target tracking, on-screen VHF DSC position reports, and Loran TD positioning mode, among others. Your vessel and waypoint will also be accurately tracked on the best chart scale while underway, thanks wholly to an intelligent built-in "Auto Range" feature. This state-of-the-art GPS system is what makes the Raymarine C80 one of the best chartplotters available.

Making use of the latest HD Digital technology, and an optional Raymarine Digital Sounder Module, the Raymarine C80 chartplotter can be configured as a fantastic stand-alone fishfinder! Fish and the structure of the ocean floor can both be easily identified with pinpoint accuracy up to a maximum depth of 5000 ft. (1700 meters.), due once again to advanced HD Digital adaptive receiver technology. Bottom lock, A-Scope, and zoom modes are also available as additional options. More than 220 sonar parameters per second are automatically adjusted, thanks to hands free HD Digital technology, and it is because of this that clutter is almost completely eliminated. Both beginners and experienced mariners can use this tool with ease.

Configuring the Raymarine to act as a highly sophisticated radar is a piece of cake: by simply connecting an optional radome or open-array antenna to anyRaymarine C Series display you can create a powerful radar system in no time at all. Upon activating the system, many powerful features become available such as MARPA (Mini-Automatic-Radar-Plotting-Aid) target tracking, waypoint navigation and multiple waypoint overlay, and AIS Target tracking using the optional Raymarine AIS250. Advanced microprocessor controlled transmitter-receiver features 8 pulse width/PRF settings, providing enhanced target returns through every range scale. In case you are the type that is easily annoyed by loud sounds, you'll be glad to know that the receiver has a low noise figure (less than 5 dB), and Auto GST fully automatic gain, sea clutter, and tune control, for hands off control.

The Raymarine C80 marine chartplotter is definitely a device that any serious mariner should consider having on board. This product can definitely put your mind to ease, and you will no longer have to worry about challenging weather situations, anticipation of shipwrecks, or even whether you'll be able to catch the fish you need for dinner. Through rain or shine, thick or thin, the Raymarine C80 will never fail to get you safely home.
