The world we live in is all surrounded with a variety of nature

, and each is placed into an order. Thus everything we see comes to us as a visual effect. Let the things be same and simply change there order, the visual effect would be different. Either we talk about plants, animal order, any living or non living commodity; each brings out his own independent visual message. It is the same light of the sun which has burning effect in the deserts, and this is the same sun glowing over a jungle, but we have a total effect. In the winters, snow covered Colorado Mountains have a visual effect which is different from what they bring in summers. Similarly, our places of work and living do have a different feeling, simply because of light effects. Placing a light is really an art, translating our priority of living and state of mind and choice.

Recessed lights can be placed in different ways, such as:

* Lighting up a specific area with task lighting.

* Shadowing effect, Wall Grazing technique

* Accent lighting

* Wall washing theme

* Full light up scheme

* Anti glare scheme to cut down the glare effects

Task lighting requires the light with a brighter bulb placed an angle totally focusing the object of interest. Position the light directly above the work area, such as kitchen table, work bench, dressing table, writing area, or even the kitchen stove.

In the Wall grazing, a shadowing effect is created. Lights with narrow or wide spread beam are used on a vertical area, direct vertically upwards or angular. The Light is spread all over the wall but in a variable pattern. This can be used for the brick walls, or textured walls, creating a soothing and relaxing effect.

Accent lighting is used to illuminate specific articles, such as paintings and art works, or any picture. Two lights are needed focusing on the same object from different angles.

To create a larger area effect, wall washing technique is used. Lights with large and wide spread are used, making the use of illuminating the articles in its path.

In order to create more light or light up the entire area evenly, lights with 4 to 6 inch diameter are used at a gap of 4 to 6 feet between them for a ceiling of 8 to 10 feet. Normally 6 lights are used, but this is not a hard and fast rule for the quantity. This is because it depends upon the power of the bulb used, and the light requirement.

For places like camera studios, more lights are used, and this requires a combination of all of the above.
