Roseanne Barr Regrets Her Liposuction
Roseanne, known for her self-titled nineties TV sitcom
, recently came out with an interesting quote about the liposuction she had one about a decade ago.
Roseanne Barr, famous for being loud, crude and obnoxious recently made a statement about her cosmetic surgery experience. In the nineties, during her TV golden age, this celebrity had just about everything done: liposuction, breast reduction, facelift, you name it. Roseanne was famous for being a loud-mouthed television mother but she was also well-known for having lots done.
Barr, although a confirmed cosmetic surgery patient, does not necessarily have the most positive words to describe her own experience with cosmetic surgery. While many feel it is necessary this comedian has pointed out how unnecessary it can be. Liposuction is meant as a last attempt to eradicate any stubborn fat deposits on the body, and nothing more. Despite the booming popularity of this method, the facts remain the same. Most doctors recommend not removing more than eleven pounds, having realistic expectations before undergoing surgery and being prepared to live a healthy lifestyle afterward.
Barr, along with others, has indicated why surgery may not be the best option. In reference to her experience with liposuction, Barr is quoted as having said, "Now I realize that everyone has to get old and die, but it was still a very bad experience....No one looks better after plastic surgery. Just pink and shiny. At the end of it, you look like an idiot." Strong words are a signature of this female comedian superstar. However, she does present an interesting point that is worth considering.
Barr has expressed views many "regular" have been thinking for years. Doctors, too, do not recommend jumping into any process of surgical methods used to remove large amounts of fat. Making a quick decision like this involves plenty of risk. It is best to consult with your doctor before giving the final say. The risk involved with serious surgery is never something that ought to be treated lightly.
Your doctor will be honest with you as your health is the primary focus of any surgical procedure, not your image. Focus on what is best health-wise. Using fair judgment and knowing that not everything can be cured despite how successful your lipoplasty can be will eliminate some problems like dissatisfaction with your immediate results or overdoing it with lipectomy.
In the end, it's always best to understand what your expectations should be when undergoing liposuction. Unhealthy expectations can impede the surgical process and your doctor may suggest counseling before performing the procedure. Self-esteem issues cannot be fixed with surgery because in the end, you could end up thinking the only improvement to yourself is that now you are "pink and shiny."
