Shoaib Akhtar Got Liposuction

It seems like just about every day you see news about some celebrity or another getting liposuction

. The list of female celebrities rumored to have undergone the treatment is long and it includes such women as Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Halle Berry, the Kardashian sisters and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The list of male celebrities having undergone the surgery is similarly beginning to grow, and it includes such diverse people as Howard Stern and Dwayne Johnson (who is also known as the Rock).

One celebrity who might not be as well known to Americans, but who people in other parts of the world know well is Shoaib Akhtar.

Shoaib Akhtar is a Pakistani cricket player. He is known for being one of the world's fastest bowlers, and he has set world records by bowling 100.2 mph twice.

Although Shoaib Akhtar is known to be a good player, he is also known to be a fairly controversial character. He has occasionally been banned from his sport for such actions as possessing banned substances, brawling with a teammate and publicly criticizing the decisions and policies of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Shoaib is sometimes accused of not being a team player.

One of the most recent controversies regarding this Pakistani cricket star regards his recent liposuction (also referred to as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy). Shoaib recently went to London to have a knee surgery. Soon after he returned to his homeland, he underwent a lipoplasty to remove some of his excess body fat.

This has created further tension with the Pakistan Cricket Board, who states that Shoaib "is a centrally contracted player and he is supposed to consult our medical panel and inform us before undergoing any medical treatment but he didn't do this before opting for the liposuction."

They state that Shoaib's decision was self-centered and foolish, claiming that "Shoaib will require at least three to four months to make a complete recovery and be available to play competitive cricket once again."

Other doctors stress how important it is for Shoaib to take the proper time to recover: "Since Shoaib is a professional sportsman he definitely needs proper rest or he could damage his career badly if he tried to make a premature comeback from these surgeries."

Although it doesn't seem that Akhtar has made any formal response himself, people near him have reported that he did not feel it necessary to consult the medical panel of the Pakistan Board of Cricket, adding that he paid for the lipoplasty surgery himself.
