However, with a good sharpener, you can make your knives last much longer. They are supposed to be very easy to use and should have several slots for sharpening different types of cutlery. The also should be able to sharpen serrated knives, which can be very useful. However, they must be used with care if you wish to preserve the metal on your knives.

Some of the cheapest sharpeners, though, tend to be favorites amongst home cooks. They are small handheld devices that are meant to be easy to use and very accurate. Many consumers swear by these for their cutlery.
