Six Ways To Get Fit Whilst Living In London
There is a common misconception that if you live in the city of London
, leading a healthy lifestyle isn't possible and it takes a lot of time and effort to even be remotely fit.
The simple fact is that this isn't true and although you can seem particularly busy when living in London, the following six ways explain just how you can get fit quickly and easily whilst living in the capital city of England.
1. Ditch the Tube - although the London Underground is the most convenient way to travel around the city, it can leave people falling into a habit of being lazy.
The Tube may be particularly convenient, but if you're using it for a only a few minutes each day, there's a good a chance that you'll be able to walk the same distance travelled just as quick - if not quicker - than on the Tube.
2. Take the stairs - if you work in an office block and get the lift to your floor, try taking the stairs instead. It might tire you out at first if you work on any floor other than the first, second or third, but after using the stairs for a few days, it will soon become a lot easier and you'll find that you're out of breath a lot less.
3. Get up early - many residents of London don't think that they can attend gyms in London as they aren't open when they can go.
However, due to the demand of the city, a lot of gyms in London are open particularly early in the morning (as well as staying open late at night), meaning that if you can wake an hour earlier than you would normally wake up, you should be able to fit in a session at the gym before work.
4. Only do small grocery shops - whilst it makes more financial sense to carry out one large grocery shop a week, you'll be able to stay fit by making three or four small ones.
The reason behind this is not just because it means you'll have to travel to the supermarket more, but also because if you buy little and often, you'll find that you don't buy unhealthy foods in bulk, such as multipacks of crisps or large tubs of ice cream - or even any at all.
5. Plan your journeys - if you can spend the time planning your journeys before you set off, you'll be able to work out the healthiest way to travel, such as the best route to walk or a way that involves using the least amount of transport as possible.
6. Eat regularly - one of the most important things you have to remember when wanting to get fit is that you have to eat regularly.
Aside from having three well-balanced meals a day, you also need to snack regularly to ensure that your metabolic rate remains high. These snacks shouldn't be crisps or chocolate, however and instead should be fruit, vegetables or nuts.
