Starcraft 2 Strategy - Efficent Creep

Creep is one of the best tools in a Zerg players arsenal

. Creep, when used properly can create a huge advantage for a Zerg player. Creep gives a Zerg player the following advantages. To begin with, it gives a 30% increased movement speed bonus to the Zerg players units. Next, it can stop your opponent from expanding because they can't build on Creep. You can also use Creep build Spine Crawlers and Spore Crawlers anywhere and move them around very quickly. Lastly, you have vision wherever you have Creep so you want to have as much Creep spread across the map as possible, its basically a map hack.

So what are some of the ways you can spread Creep? If you ever watch a replay of a high level Zerg match you will noticed that by the time the game is over, Creep as pretty much covered the map. Being able to do this while micro managing everything seems almost impossible. However, Starcraft 2 makes it fairly easy to spread all this Creep.

The two best ways to spread Creep is with your Queen and your Overlords. Lets start with Overlords. To spread Creep with Overlords simply upgrade your Hatchery to a Lair. Once your Lair is complete your Overlords can now drop Creep. All of your Overlords have just become mobile Creep placement units. The hands down best way to spread Creep and increase your vision is with a Queen. I like to build 1 Queen whose only job is to drop Creep Tumors. A Creep Tumor, once placed, will radiate Creep all around it and give you vision in the Process. It takes a Creep Tumor about 30 seconds to develop, Once it is developed it can drop its own Creep Tumor, in the mean time your Queen can drop more Creep Tumors. Its easy to see how Creep Tumors can be spread exponentially using this method. This will drastically increase your vision of the map very quickly.
