Teaching Article Writing - A Winning Guide For Writing Articles
1. Know your objectives. First thing to do is to determine the exact reasons why
you're writing your articles. Do you want to use them to drive traffic to your website or do you want to use them to establish your expertise in your niche? Knowing what you want to achieve before you tap on your keyboard will help you succeed in this field.
2. Know your audience. Research and get to know your target audience. It's not enough that you know their needs and demands. In order to easily get through to them, you need to know them on a deeper level. You need to know the things that can push their emotional hot buttons, their preferences, etc.
3. Pick the best topics. The best topics for your articles are those that your readers will find interesting. Talk to these people or conduct surveys to get to know their pulse. Years of writing my articles has taught me that the best way to capture the attention of your readers is to talk about their problems, areas of interest, burning questions, and goals in life.
4. Use eye-catching titles. This is non-negotiable in the field of article writing. It's very important that you use titles that can capture the attention of your readers otherwise, your articles will not be read. There are lot of online resources that contain useful tips and techniques on how to write effective titles. Read and learn from them.
5. Use the inverted pyramid technique. Whenever possible, spill out the most important details on your first paragraph. It's important that you get your audience on the edge of their seats so you can get them to read on.
6. Offer useful, valuable information. Load up your articles with information that your readers will appreciate. These include guides on how they'll be able to reach their goals, answers to their burning questions, in-depth information or tips about their areas of interest, and solutions to their problems. You can also offer them with insider tips, your personal secrets, and other solid information that they'll be able to make use of.
7. Keep it short. Find ways on how you can keep your articles as short as possible. This is one way to better serve your audience who are pressed for time. It will help if you limit the scope of your content and if you use only the most effective words in getting your message across.
8. Use conversational tone. Alienating your readers is the last thing that you would like to happen, right? So, talk to them through your articles by simply using conversational tone. Address them using first person pronouns. Ask them questions and ask for their opinions once in a while.
9. Make it scannable. Use as many white blank spaces as possible to make your articles easy on the eyes. Use very short but very tight paragraphs and use subheadings. If you're giving out tips or guides, make sure that you use number or bullet list. Also, highlight the specific information that your readers consider important. This is to help these people find exactly what they're looking for in as little time as possible.
