The 2010 Lexus GS 450H Has the Latest in Hybrid Technology

Since when does hybrid technology mean that power has to be sacrificed? Not with the 2010 Lexus 450h. Not only does enhanced fuel economy benefit the 450h buy extending its fuel economy in comfort, its power train works to enhance its performance. Those unfamiliar with Lexus might be surprised that this sport sedan offers power equivalent to a V8 in a hybrid, but for those who know Lexus, it's no surprise that the hybrid was introduced for more than just saving gas. While the 450h might not be competitive with the latest German performance machine, it is a unique balance of performance and fuel economy in a hybrid. Consumers should find everything they want in this vehicle.

Available since 2007, the reason the Lexus hybrid is called the 450h is because the power it delivers is equivalent to a 4.5 liter V8 gasoline engine. The performance is achieved by marrying a 3.5 liter V6 gasoline engine with a high performance electric motor that kicks in when low torque is needed such as starts and high acceleration. The total horsepower of the 450h hybrid system is 340, taking the car from 0 mph to 60 mph in an amazing 5.5 seconds.

Ranked number 3 out of the top 13 luxury cars on the market by US News & World Report, the GS Hybrid offers performance that competes with luxury sport sedans, a sumptuous passenger cabin, stylish bodywork and excellent safety ratings. Automobile Magazine concurs, saying, The hybrid system in the GS450h is so highly evolved that its only remaining unusual behaviors are positives."
