The airlines have had a hard economic time since September 11, and just as things were starting to get better for them the economy took a dive and has caused the airlines to go down again.
All companies thrive on new innovation so the airlines are really looking forward to some test runs for this seat. What is said is that because more of these new saddle seats will fit on a plane then the airlines will be capable of providing them at a cheaper rate. But some of the rumors say that these new seats are not comfortable and are difficult to sit in which will make them impractical for children, elderly people and obese people.
This factor will definitely reduce the popularity of these seats however many hope that this will make air travel within their reach with hopes of being able to get where they need to go without having to rent a vehicle, which is the way most people choose to get around the high cost of airfares. Even if this works there are some concerns also about the length of time that a person can sustain in that style of seat and while they are recommended for only 2 hour flights most of the airlines will admittedly be instituting them on all flights less than 4 hours.
If this is implemented there are some concerns that the airline industry would start to increase prices over time even for these more uncomfortable seats meaning some wouldn't be able to afford any other seat. Initial appearances seem to give the message that these seats are as safe as the tradition seat, but the seat is higher so there might be problems with injuries if these people are higher than other passengers.

The best news is that the private jet charter services won't be putting these seats in their jets, you can continue riding in extreme comfort and space you have come to love from the private jet providers.
