The Htc Hd Mini Is Packed Full Of Features Despite Its Size!
HTC have been releasing some real big hitters in to the Smartphone market recently
with the Legend and Desire, but with the HTC HD Mini they have produced a powerful yet compact addition to the Windows Mobile market. The HD Mini measures at 103.8 x 57 x 11.7mm and is structurally sturdy with its black metal chassis. It sports a colour rich 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen similar to that of its big sister the HTC Legend. This device has valid visual appeal with its cute yet distinctive appearance.
The phones CPU processes at 600MHz and uses Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system which combined with multi touch capabilities from the touch screen and the Sense user interface makes for a pleasurable experience when working through the various functions of the device. With an internal GPS antenna and HTC Footprints it will be hard for you to lose your way
The HD Mini has a reasonable 5MP camera and complete with auto focus, it does well capturing images sharply and effectively, it is also able to capture images in widescreen. Video capture and playback are also within the devices capabilities via the Windows Media Player, the HTC HD Mini will happily playback wmv, mp4, 3gp, m4v, avi and other formats.
The menu is easily navigated due to its hexagonal layout, the icons are bright and well displayed on its 320 x 480 HGVA screen, and the panels on the face of the device allow quick access to the HD Minis core functions. The HTC HD Mini is well connected. Peep, an application dedicated to Twitter shows you all of the tweets and updates made by your friends, the phone is Facebook integrated and also capable of image and video share with social networking sites and YouTube. HTC have given the phone both 3G and Wi Fi connectivity and the Opera web browser holds up ok when surfing.
The media player on the HD Mini is very good, the UI automatically categorises your tracks into genre or artist and travelling through your music library is easy as you can simply glide from album cover to album cover selecting songs. The cherry on top would be that the music player will run even when the device has been locked, you can change track pause and play without having to unlock your phone. The phone houses a 512MB internal memory and can take a MicroSD card of up to 32GB; this will no doubt give heaps of storage for tracks and other media.
Some of the more obscure features include the animated weather wallpaper and the phones clever G-sensor when its ringing. The G-sensor detects when it has been picked up and lowers the ring volume until the call is answered, also the volume is increased if the proximity sensor detects it is inside a bag or pocket. When you place the HD Mini face down the ring tone is muted completely.
The HTC HD Mini is a useful little device with many of its features similar to its bigger Android relations. HTC have managed to fit in a lot of there seemingly limitless technology into this little phone and compared to its Window Mobile competitors for me it certainly sets the bar .
