The HTC Smart features different scenes for different modes and times of the week

The home screen during the week shows widgets which are work based, while at the weekend social networking and music shortcuts are provided. There is also a scene which can be totally personalised by the user to meet their own needs and provide fast access to the widgets and services they most use.

The handset has a 3 megapixel camera with fixed focus and flashlight, capable of capturing those good times, and an be enjoyed again in portrait or landscape view on the 2.8 inch TFT-LCD touch screen with advanced resolution. Web browsing can also be altered with one finger touch to the screen, between portrait and landscape view, to make viewing webpages easier. Zooming is also featured with a double tap of the touch-sensitive display.

The handset runs the Brew Mobile platform as its operating system which offers a simple user interface alongside HTC Sense, providing widgets for enjoying media, checking the weather and more. Social networking is made easy as it has been unified into one thread, meaning that there is no need to be in several different applications at once, it shows all emails, text messages and Facebook updates from any on e contact selected.

The Smart has a 300MHz processor with 256 megabytes of both read-only and random access memory respectively. It offers HSDPA mobile broadband technology, and also Quad-band GSM, EDGE and GPRS networking capabilities. Connectivity is offered by Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate for faster sharing at close proximity, and also featuring A2DP for wireless stereo headsets. Meanwhile HTC ExtUSB provides an 11-pin mini-USB 2.0 connection.

All common music and video formats are available for entertainment, and music can be enjoyed through both the wireless Bluetooth option, or through the more usual 3.5mm stereo audio jack connection. The phone also has a microSD card slot, which is also SD 2.0 compatible.

The HTC Smart offers a handset with simple design and user interface through touch screen technology, along with a great camera and many widgets to keep the user up to date and always in possession of useful aids from their mobile. What really helps to make this handset is the different scenes which automatically adapt the phone between different home screens based on the time of the week, including a totally customisable option, making the phone adapt to the user, not the other way around.
