The LG GM205 Black Offers Everyday Functionality by:Chris Westley

Originally released in March 2009, the LG GM205 is now available in a black colour variant

. It offers great everyday functionality in a simple handset which is sure to appeal to many users.

It measures 106x48x14.4mm and weighs in at 85g. Its light weight makes it comfortable to hold and use whilst on the move. A 2 inch TFT screen is capable of displaying up to 256,000 colours at 176x220 pixels.

Vibration and ringing alert users to incoming calls and messages. Customization of the phone is made possible due to the options to download polyphonic ringtones and assign MP3 music files as ringtones. It is possible to talk on the move thanks to a built in speakerphone system. This features Dolby Surround Sound Technology, and incorporates 3 speakers (2 stereo and 1 woofer) for excellent sound quality. A 3.5mm audio jack allows the use of hands free headsets and headphones for listening to music.

14MB of internal memory is installed as standard, however additional storage space for media files and other data is made available thanks to a microSD slot which can accommodate a memory card of up to 2GB.

The GM205 uses class 10 GPRS and EDGE as its main methods of network connection. Bluetooth is also included so users can share files and data with friends, provided they are in the same vicinity and have a compatible handset.

A digital camera is built into the phone. It allows reasonable quality images to be taken thanks to its 2 mega pixels. This operates at a pixel resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. It also has the ability to shoot video in QCIF quality at 15 frames per second, allowing an alternative to taking still images.

A USB port means that media files can easily be transferred between the phone and a computer. The handset has a media player which supports a range of file formats. Videos in MP4 and H.263 are supported, and music files in MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC++, WMA, AMR and MIDI are catered for, making it versatile and ideal for music fans. Stereo FM radio playback and a selection of pre- installed games completes the list of entertainment features.

It includes other useful features such as a handy organiser and T9 predictive text input. The GM205 is available in a range of colours. As well as the aforementioned black version, there is also silver, gold and red available.

With its list of features, the LG GM205 is ideal for everyday use, and its design makes it ideal for fans of classic technology.
