The Qualities Required In Effective Leadership
A leader of a school group or community group
, factory union or an NGO advocating a cause, the leader is always expected to walk the talk and lead by example. This can be very demanding and exhausting for the leader.
As a leader there is no set rules for you to follow or process you need to confirm to, but you are expected to be engaged with the expectations of your group, organization or school and be able to set the goals for others to follow and lead the way. One needs to be able to have a balanced view of all things at all time.
What are the qualities required in good leadership? The leader should have the vision and the wisdom to be able to set the goals. He should be able to apply logic and reason and have the courage to take the right decisions that is required to take the organization forward irrespective of other pressures. He should be able to win and influence people and hold them all in his sway. End of it he should have the patience and forbearance to be able to face challenges and get tougher during trials without having to loose out on his resolve and beliefs.
As leaders, they are expected to be perfect and correct at all time. There is no margin for errors in their decision-making. But then when you consider the amount of pressure they face and the number of things they handle all at one time, you will realize that they can go wrong some times in their decisions for they are human too.
Making mistakes is ok. But the leader is expected to quickly arrest the damage and make amends. He needs to constantly review the direction in which his group is headed and do a course correction if required and always move forward towards the set goal.
A leader is known for his quality of decision-making capability. He is expected to be a mentor and patient listener giving due importance and value to every member's opinion. End of it he should have clarity of thought and action to be considering what is good for his organization or group. His ability to think independently and carry others with him makes him a good leader.
A leader is always required to command and be decided on all things. He is not the one who moves by consensus, rather considering all points of view takes his own decision as he see it right and being in the interest of all. His conviction and beliefs carry him forward as a leader.
A leader is solely responsible for steering the direction for the organization to follow. He is the one person who defines the direction, borders, the dos and don't for the others to follow. He is the repository of the values, beliefs and competence of the group.
