Postgraduate studyis a studying process after a Bachelors degree

. It is intended to get Masters or doctoral degree. Postgraduate certificate or diploma is also the confirmation of this stage in studying process. As a rule, any scientific degree or postgraduate certificate or diploma may be obtained through scientific research or taught course.

Taught course usually has a structure similar to undergraduate degree studying process. It lasts about one year and may be either a full-time study or part-time one. In this case it lasts over two years.

The academic year includes studying program that usually consists of lectures, seminars, coursework and traditional exams. After this during the vacation (summer vacation because it is the longest one) a postgraduate has to write a thesis or make a research project. If the completion of all mentioned elements is more than satisfactory, the correspondent degree is awarded.

Everyone who decided to get Masters degree should think about the following. A serious research should be done for it. The scientific research should be completed during at least one last year of studying. Moreover, the research should be protracted, serious, strict, including the method of critical thinking and systematic investigation. The research is done independently but under the help and advice of the supervisor. Normally, after the thesis or dissertation is done, the postgraduate is required to have oral examination on ones scientific project. After that the degree is awarded.
