U.s. Allows Undocumented Immigrants Living Since Childhood To Stay Back

The President, Obama, has made many hearts happy by making the recent announcement

of allowing the undocumented immigrants to stay back in the country for a couple of more years.

The New Immigration Policy

Obamas New Immigration Policy will allow almost 53,000 undocumentedimmigrants to stay back in the country. The Deferred Action forChildhood Arrival Policy introduced in August of 2012, has been kept up by the President even after winning the Elections. The Program is commonly known as DACA. The Program is a measure to protect the undocumented immigrants, who were brought to the country by their parents.

The first One to receive the benefit

Karla Rojas, one of the first beneficiaries of the program. She had crossed the borders along with her parents when she was just 7 years of age. She is the Founder of a Youth Group fighting for the rights of undocumented immigrants.

She says, Its not my story alone, there are many such people who come here in the hope of earning money and getting the basic facilities for their children, yet, they have to survive on a very little earning.

She informed that she was engaged with a job of $3 an hour. She has appreciated the development on this front.

She also expressed her pain for those millions of students who would not be able to qualify the program in the absence meeting all the criteria.

Eligibility of the Program

The Applicant should not be more than 31 years of age. In fact, he should be less than 3 years of age by June 15, 2012.

He should have gone to High School or should be going to high School.

Has resided in US since June 15, 2007.

Honourably discharged from Armed Forces

There should be no criminal charges against the applicant either in the past or in the present.

The welcome Approach

As of now, as many as 53,237 requests have been approved by the Government. Experts opine that, though the breather has been given for two years, but, when you are living under the fear of deportation every minute, a time of two years is quite prolonged.

The benefits of the Program

The approved applicants will get a Social Security number and also a legal Work Permit which allow them to earn a decent job, thereby helping them to live a standard life. And this is what their parents had come here for.

Experts Opinion

They favour the courage expressed by most of such undocumented immigrants who were brought by their parents and hence are not at fault for them being in this country. They appreciate the strength of these more than a million of people and strongly recommend a solid action from the government for them.

Summary:

DACA was though announced in August 2012, now the legal shape of the same has given strength and courage to many who have been living under the fear of being deported without any prior notice. The step taken by the House has received a large support by major sections of the country.
