Video Conferencing Equipment Helps the Troops Stay in Touch
It has not been easy for the U.S. soldiers who are stationed overseas. They have been away from their home and their loved ones for such a long time that it takes a toll on their mind and body. Loneliness and home sickness have been the dual bane.
The Video Conferencing Equipment has been instrumental in alleviating the tormenting times for the soldiers. Soldiers, who would otherwise rely on the phones to hear the voice of their loved ones, can now virtually be at their homes; attend family functions and even witness the birth of their children.
A Video Conferencing Equipment is a technology that enables two or more groups of people, who are located at different locations, view and talk to one another. Depending on the quality of the associated device, transmission standards and quality and other associated factors, you can have a great deal of clarity in the pictures and the audio like the two of you were sitting in the same room.
A video conference tool is actually multiple tools bundled together. Other than the technology, you need to have a desktop (preferably a large screened desktop), a webcam, a high speed internet connection and proper software for the video conference.
The U.S. Army has taken the novel step of introducing video conferencing for the soldiers who are posted at faraway places, away from their family so that the pains of being geographically far from the family are alleviated to some extent. The soldiers are said to have greatly benefitted from the technology as they can nearly feel like being with their family.
The novel initiative of the U.S. Army to bring the soldiers and their families virtually closer has received widespread media coverage and acclaim. The newspapers and the news channels are full of stories that describe how video conferencing equipment has transformed the lives of a soldierlonely and homesick in a distant and an alien land.
For example, last year, a U.S. Navy mariner, posted far away from his home witnessed the entire process of his wife giving birth to their child. He witnessed the entire process as the ultrasound technician determined the condition of the baby.
The entire facilitation was done by VTC which included live feed of voice and video transmissions. The mariner was also able to watch the entire sonogram through a web streaming video, provided by a website from the imaging center.
The entire initiative has created multiple joyous and uplifting moments for the soldiers who feel more relaxed and do not have to worry about bad signals over the phone. A technology which was once exclusive to the corporate domain is now used to draw big smiles on the faces of the soldiers.
