The newspapers and the news channels are full of stories that describe how video conferencing equipment has transformed the lives of a soldierlonely and homesick in a distant and an alien land.

For example, last year, a U.S. Navy mariner, posted far away from his home witnessed the entire process of his wife giving birth to their child. He witnessed the entire process as the ultrasound technician determined the condition of the baby.

The entire facilitation was done by VTC which included live feed of voice and video transmissions. The mariner was also able to watch the entire sonogram through a web streaming video, provided by a website from the imaging center.

The entire initiative has created multiple joyous and uplifting moments for the soldiers who feel more relaxed and do not have to worry about bad signals over the phone. A technology which was once exclusive to the corporate domain is now used to draw big smiles on the faces of the soldiers.
