As a registered nurse, you will no longer have these safety nets.

As you settle into your first nursing job, you will have a plethora of new experiences such as admitting and discharging patients and completing all the necessary paperwork, which can be much more daunting than you might think when the hospital is busy. You must also make orders for supplies, including medicine, which you may not have had much personal experience with since instructors are typically required to co-sign for narcotic orders with student nurses.

The most important things that nursing majors don't learn in school are organization and time management skills, which are necessary to survive in this mile-a-minute career. Your experience up to this point will have been limited, and you won't have had to care for as many patients at one time as you do now. If you want to survive in this career, you must be able to multi-task and prioritize your duties by figuring out which ones are the most important to fulfill first.
