Everyone needs to get a certain amount of cardiovascular exercise every day

, to keep them fit and healthy and to help stop the chance of becoming overweight or even obese. However, there are plenty of other reasons to stay active as well, and these reasons are even more important.

First of all, our bodies are not meant to be sedentary. The reason we have such an intricate series of muscles and tendons is so that we are able to lead active lives, and after you have done some exercise you will generally find that you feel so much better than when you spend a day not moving at all.

Exercise doesn't just lead to weight loss, because it causes your blood to pump faster around your body it strengthens your heart and lungs, making you less susceptible to trouble with those organs later in life. Your heart and lungs are two of the most important organs for keeping you alive, and the stronger they are the less likely you are to have trouble and illness in later life. Exercise also increases your bone density, meaning you are far less likely to suffer from osteoporosis and brittle bones later in life.

Exercise releases endorphins and can be a great way to temporarily cure depression and anxiety, making you far happier and more likely to succeed socially and in the workplace. Physically, it can help to work against some types of cancer, as well as heart disease. If you get some exercise every day, you will soon notice a marked increase in how happy you are, how energised you feel on a day to day basis, and just how much better your body seems to run.


If losing weight is your main goal when it comes to exercise, this can take some of the pleasure out of it as you do not see results that quickly. However, if you take into account the other changes going on in your body, and how great this makes you feel, it can make cardio feel far more enjoyable on a day to day basis, so much so that once the weight starts to come off you will no longer be quite as focused on it as your primary goal.
