Adrenaline Addiction And The Polaris Rzr 4x4
Extreme sports have been sweeping the nation
Extreme sports have been sweeping the nation. More and more people are looking for their daily dose of adrenaline rush. Never before in the history of the world have there been so many different outlets for extreme sports and adventures. Some people chose to fly off jumps on snowboards, zoom down cliff faces on mountain bikes, fall out of airplanes, base jump, off-road a Polaris RZR 4x4 (an ATV), do back-flips on dirt bikes, skateboard, bungee jump, wrestle with grizzly bears and swim with sharks. Okay, maybe wrestling with grizzly bears is an exaggeration, but you get the idea. I think that somewhere in the last twenty years our lives must have gotten really boring. They have become so boring that we seek opportunities to almost die!
I suppose hardly any of us have to hunt for our food, fight in tribal battles, make fire, or built shelter with our bare hands. The days of historic society adrenaline rushes are behind us, maybe we are just compensating. Today many people associate the concept of having lived life, with doing something crazy. Ask almost any young person what they need to do before they die. A great majority will respond with something like skydiving. However crazy it all might seem, it proves how strong an adrenaline rush can be. It is addicting. This chemical produced naturally by our bodies has the ability to sharpen the senses, quicken the mind, supply unusual amounts of strength, boosts agility, increases speed and eliminates the sensation of pain. It is our best friend in tough situations. It is meant to protect us from harm, not bring us closer to it. This chemical is what saved cave men from wholly mammoths.
With the stresses of modern living and our fast paced lives, it easy to understand the glamor of adrenaline. It is a natural escape. Unfortunately an addiction to adrenaline leads down a dark path to more broken bones and closer encounters with the grim-reaper. Some argue that is a healthy alternative to drug usage. Adrenaline can produce similar sensations to narcotics, but it is free and produced from within ourselves. It may not be legal, but just like any addiction the limits must constantly be pushed to produce the desired high. Think about working out. It is healthy and allows the body to release endorphins that block pain receptors, helping us feel better about ourselves.
There is a point though where a person can become hooked on the feeling. Have you heard of gym junkies? These are people that cannot function without going to the gym. It is their addiction. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. There is no such thing as a healthy addiction, unless you cannot get enough broccolis.
