Chelsea Handler Tickets - Handler Takes Vmas To New Heights

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) needed a controversial figure for the show's 2010

edition to follow up Kanye West's bad-boy outburst in 2009, and they found it in comedienne Chelsea Handler. Handler was tapped as the host for the 2010 VMAs and garnered mixed reviews for her signature crass but hilarious one-liners during the show, and even though she was slammed by several critics following the Sept. 12 VMAs, the E! talk show host helped rake in the awards show's highest rating since 2002.

Netting 11.4 million viewers, this year's VMAs became the highest-rated cable telecast of the year. While outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post had some not-so-positive things to say about Handler's hosting duties from Sunday night's VMAs, the thick-skinned comedienne had some words of her own regarding the program. During her show "Chelsea Lately" the following day after the VMAs, Handler said, "I had a really great time last night, and for anyone who thinks I didn't do a good job, f--- off."

Handler also later waged a Twitter war against celebrity blogger Perez Hilton after he dissed her show on his website. In response to Hilton's proclamation that he was bored with Handler's performance and wished she would shut up so he could hear more music, Handler tweeted: "oh, f--- off. I had a blast and the show [was] awesome last night. Bomb? Your life is a bomb."

Chelsea Handler is certainly not one to sulk in the midst of criticisms. In fact, she's usually the one doling them out. Handler makes her living skewering celebrities - especially favorite targets like Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie, Kanye West, John Mayer and the cast of "Jersey Shore" - and her hilarious antics have only combined with her just-as-ridiculous set of authored books (including one about her one-night stands) to make her one of the top celebrities of all.

Handler's career has quickly escalated ever since she starred in the Oxygen Network comedy program "Girls Behaving Badly" in the early 2000s. The quirky blonde takes a no-holds-barred approach to her signature brand of comedy, and her standup routine has had fans clamoring over Chelsea Handler tickets for shows just as soon as they're announced.

Handler recently expanded her Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang Tour, which she's currently in the midst of in promoting her new book of the same name. The tour will now run through January 2011 and features some of her most prized "Comedians of Chelsea Lately," including Heather McDonald, Josh Wolf, Jo Koy, Chris Franjola, Sarah Colonna, Brad Wollack and Guy Branum, just a few names that help make "Chelsea Lately" a cable television crack-up.

Chelsea Handler might be making more enemies than friends in Hollywood with her talents in turning the faux pas of socialites into a talk show with a cult following, but she doesn't seem to care. The New Jersey native is going strong with her string of New York Times best-selling books and incredibly funny TV show "Chelsea Lately," and her hand in the overwhelming popularity of the 2010 MTV VMAs only makes Handler that much more unstoppable.
