Chevy Dealers In Lake County Look Forward To The Arrival Of The Cruze
The meltdown of the American economy and subsequent recession has been difficult on us all
. I was laid off right around this time last year, and it was a devastating reality that I had to face when I reached the unemployment line and realized how incredibly long it was. Since then, I got a new job and things have been alright but Ive still had to be a little thrifty. And you think my problems have been bad? Take a look at the automotive industry and count your lucky stars. Chevy dealers in Lake County will tell you of their sorrows if you are willing to listen for a few hours.
We can whittle down the most heavily affected parties even further if you like. In fact, were going to have to for the purposes of this article. Im of course talking about the deep problems that have occurred as a result of GMs implosion. Many people have been affected by GMs problems Lake County Chevrolet drivers included. In fact, GM was poised to finally make the great leap into the small car market, and it was delayed again, per the usual. Im talking about the Chevy Cruze, a car that is about to become a hot item at Chevy dealers in Lake County. The new compact Cruze is currently in production at GMs Lordstown, OH manufacturing plant.
And now, as a sign of renewed consumer confidence in the brand, GM will be adding a third shift to the Lordstown plant, apparently to handle consumer demand around the new Cruze. Ex-GM CEO Rick Wagoner put a good $350 million investment into the plant before the car market imploded on itself. Unfortunately for Lake County Chevrolet drivers, more than 2,800 workers were put into idle status as a result of the bankruptcy and restructuring of the company. But now it appears that GM is back and better than ever, and the potential success or failure of the Chevy Cruze will be a very good measuring stick for whether Chevrolet is as relevant now as it was before the recession. Well find out soon when we measure the data collected by Chevy dealers in Lake County over the next year or so.
It got worse before it got better. In April 09, GM idled the entire plant for three weeks to cut supplies and lower operating costs. But now, the announcement of a third shift means that good times have once again come upon the American manufacturer. Ask any Lake County Chevrolet driver: GM is back in business, and they are rising to fill the hole they left in the market back before the recession. This is great news not only for GM but for the entire industry, as automotive sales in general are finally starting to get back on track. Pretty soon, well be back to the glory days, and cars like the new Chevy Cruze will become a mainstay in a market now more interested in smaller cars. Keep your eyes open because the Cruze will be on showroom floors even sooner than you know it.
