Former College Teacher Tells You How To Get Better Grades
I'd like to share with you some of the lessons I learned on how to be successful in college.
I've been in school forever, literally forever! To be honest I actually just finished but it seems like it took forever. I just completed a graduate degree and through this experience I go to see both the student and teacher prospective on learning. As part of my graduate degree requirements I had to teach a full year of a college level course. After spending nearly 30 years in school you would think teaching would be easy I couldn't have been more wrong!
There are several tips I came up with to help my students learn.
One of the best things I found to help students is their friends. I don't mean cheating or copying homework but instead having friends who also want to do well in school. The saying is that successful people surround themselves with other successful people. This is absolutely true and applies to college as well.
Make good use of the internet! Your teachers don't want you to know but the material they are teaching, the book they use, and even some of their tests can be easily found online. Make good use of online and internet study materials!
Make good use of your professors. They are there to make sure that you learn the material and they get paid quite well to do it. Don't let your tuition money go to waste. One the same note, make good use of your teaching assistants. You may not realize but they can be very helpful and in some cases get to a big say in your final grade. It wouldn't hurt for them to know who you are.
This is by no means a complete list of tips to get better grades. There are many great sources on how to get better grades. In particular I recommend that you check out Get-Better-Grades. They have tons of great study tips.
Good Luck!
