How Is Liposuction Preformed In Standard Verses Laser Liposuction Procedures?

There are a number of differences between standard liposuction procedures and the relatively new procedures known as laser liposuction

. The process used to remove the fat form the body is much the same but the methods are strikingly different. The difference in the methods is seen in the time necessary to perform the procedure and the recovery time needed after it is completed.

Standard liposuction tools are used to loosen the fatty tissue in the area chosen for surgery. After the tissue has been loosened the area is filled with liquid. This liquid mixture is used to help aide the fat in the suction process. Once the liquid is in place and the tissue is loose the fat is then sucked out of the body. All of this is rather stressful on the body and creates a lot of bruising.

With the laser procedure a special laser is used to melt the fatty cells inside the body. The laser removes the need to manually loosen the fatty tissue and the need to add extra liquids, as the liquid fat is easy enough to remove on its own. Small incisions are then made in the surgical area to suck the liquid fat out of the body. This process is still a dramatic change to the body that it has to compensate for but the bruising is very minimal and the stress on the body is much lower compared to the standard procedure.

An incision is made in the fatty area where the surgical tool called a cannula is placed to brake up the fat. The surgeon uses an enormous amount of pressure to loosen the fatty areas of the body. This makes it possible for the extraction of the fatty cells. A lot of bruising and soreness is caused to the patient with the use of this technique. It can take weeks or even months in order to fully recover.

Under normal circumstances patients are able to have laser liposuction and then return to work the next day. Laser liposuction is known as Smart Lipo or sometimes called "lunch time lipo." This is because of the easiness of the procedure compared to the standard surgical conditions.

The easiness of the laser work makes the recovery a much faster process. There is less swelling, bruising, and scaring do to the small incisions made and the laser capable abilities. This is the most desirable aspect of laser liposuction compared to other options.

The laser only requires the use of a local anesthetic as apposed to a patients being put out completely. Local anesthesia combined with the less invasive procedure also cuts down on the costs of liposuction. Local anesthesia is less expensive and it is also easier for the surgeons to create an out patient situation.

The choice between these two most procedures is up to the patient and their doctors. Patients should speak with their doctor before making the decision to have liposuction treatments whether they are laser or standard procedures. Looking for a seasoned surgeon is very important to the health, the results, and the healing process.
