Two Liposuction Killers Are Perforation And Shock, But They Can Be Avoided With Careful Practices

Any surgery comes with certain risks of complications

. Even though liposuction has been proven to be very safe as surgeries go, it is possible for things to go wrong. In rare cases, people have even died because of complications from the surgery. This article will discuss some of the things that can go wrong and in extreme cases, lead to death.

It is important to note that complications associated with liposuction are quite rare. They usually occur if the surgeon is not careful enough or if patients don't take proper care of themselves during the post surgery period.

One of the risks associated with liposuction is called perforation. When fat is removed in the abdominal area, there is some risk that the abdominal wall can be broken.

There are two kinds of fat in the abdominal area of the body. There is the superficial fat that is very near to the skin. This fat is soft and can be removed with relative ease during liposuction.

Another deeper layer of fat exists, though, and this is fat that cannot be removed with the liposuction technique. It is the fat that coats the bowels and provides padding between internal organs. This fat would be extremely dangerous to remove.

Any attempt to remove fat that is too deep or fat that is against the abdominal wall can result is damage to the intestines.

The intestines are filled with material that is extremely harmful to the rest of the body. If allowed to leak out, infection can result in death.

This can be avoided by a surgeon not attempting to remove deep fat from the abdominal area. Great care must be taken when removing fat from the abdomen.

Liposuction can also be fatal when too much fat is removed from the body at one time.

The fat stores are like the body's insurance against the future, and it doesn't take well to having its stores depleted.

Sometimes the body will go into shock. When untreated, shock can lead to death.

The danger is lessened significantly when surgeons only attempt to move small amounts of fat. Everybody is different, but most people seem to be able to handle having four or five pounds removed at one time.

Although it is safe to remove up to eight or ten, it is advisable to stick to smaller amounts. It is also a good idea to keep the liposuction to one area of the body.

This means that fat can be removed from just one isolated spot, such as the abdomen, or two small areas that go together like the thighs or breasts.

Keeping the total amount small and the surgery limited is the best way to keep it safe and to avoid the dangers of complications.

Doing it smart almost eliminates the possible risk of serious complications.
