Juvederm Or Botox: Which Do Your Plastic Surgeons Have More Experience With?
It starts the day you go shopping with your mother and a friend asks you if mom is your sister
. Yeah, that's when you realize you're starting to age. You knew it would happen, it happens to everyone. You start shopping for creams and you start exercising. You realize quickly creams and diet do not offer dramatic results. In fact, you're still seeing all the same wrinkles. You start to research all your non-surgical options and you just don't know what to do. There are fillers and injections and frankly what is the difference? Contacting plastic surgeons might feel premature when you don't know what you want to do.
Botox is only for wrinkles. It does not plump lips; botox offers patients a wrinkle free appearance by relaxing the muscles at the injection site. Juvederm is injecting a filler to smooth out the wrinkles. The result is smoothed out wrinkles where a furrowed brow once was. Juvederm is used for only cosmetic procedures, but the filler used is naturally occurring and therefore poses virtually no risk to the patient. Botox is used to treat headaches and sometimes for sweating. Juvederm also lasts a bit longer then botox. Patients experience results that last as long as twelve months compared to the six months that botox offers.
The temporary nature of botox can be one of its more alluring factors however. If you don't like the results it will naturally reverse itself. If you don't like the results of juvederm you will be waiting longer, but it too will reverse itself. The process for injections is similiar and patients have virtually no recovery time. Side effects are similar with bruising, redness, and swelling at the injection site as the number one complaint. It is suggested that you time your procedure accordingly. Choosing from board certified plastic surgeons could minimize side effects.
Your initial consultation will be important and it will be the time to discuss which option is best for you. Your doctor's opinions will be formed based on your expectations, condition of your skin, and your plastic surgeon's experience with the product. Your doctor will discuss recovery time, and how the procedure works. Juvederm is more costly, but will only need to be repeated half as often. Compared to a surgical procedure these options will offer a fast solution for aging. Probably more exciting is the next time you go shopping no one will mistake mom for your sister again.
