Lo and Behold: The All-New Samsung S8000 by:Simon Drew
Samsung's latest mobile phone to hit the market is the brand new Samsung Jet S8000
. It combines a boatload of impressive features and a unique AMOLED touch screen which is the result of progressive improvements on previous Samsung handsets. The S8000 is also equipped with perhaps the best user interface ever released by Samsung in the form of the TouchWiz OS.
The Screening Process
Although its form factor is quite similar to most Smartphones in the market today, the S8000 is actually a cut above the rest when it comes to its touch screen. It makes use of a resistive touch screen that employs Samsung's proprietary AMOLED technology. This allows for a richer and clearer screen resolution while also consuming less battery power. The 3.1-inch screen has a 480 x 800-pixel resolution and is capable of displaying up to 16M colours. In reality this is actually one of the most impressive touch screens in the market today as it guarantees a more vivid experience for the users in enjoying their pictures and videos.
The Multimedia Machine
The S8000's superb screen would be useless if the mobile didn't have multimedia capabilities that would match its display's cutting edge technology. This is probably the reason why Samsung decided to equip the Jet S8000 with features and functionalities that give the mobile the right to be called a true multimedia machine.
To begin with, the device sports a formidable 5-Megapixel camera with handy features such as an LED flash, autofocus, smile, face, & blink detection, and geo-tagging, to name a few. Users can also capture their precious moment on video by using the S8000's recorder that allows up to 720 x 480 pixels of resolution at 30fps.
Also pre-installed on this device is a multimedia player that is able to support nearly all the known digital file formats. For music the multimedia player will be able to handle MP3, WMA, WAV, and AAC file formats. It can also play video formats such as MPEG4, WMV, DivX, and XviD - pretty much all types of music and video files out there.
Not Quite a Smartphone
Although there is currently no industry standard definition for Smartphones, most experts will argue that feature-wise, the Samsung Jet S8000 actually falls short of this particular category. However, this mobile does support Java applications which means users can very easily install additional apps to make the device more business-friendly. Popular Java apps such as Gmail or Opera Mini should definitely install on the S8000 without a hitch.
