Nfl Tickets - The Best Of Week 15
Week 15 in the NFL proved to be one of the most explosive weeks yet during the 2009-10
football season, and not just because of the few huge upsets that took center stage during the mid-December action. There were several big plays and events that took place during the week, including the following.
Ben Roethlisberger hits 500: The Steelers posted an epic one-point win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 15, but it wouldn't have been possible without Ben Roethlisberger and his rocket arm. Big Ben ended the game throwing for an astounding 503 yards, becoming only the 10th quarterback since 1950 to do so. Roethlisberger found receiver Mike Wallace for a 19-yard touchdown in the last play of the game, leading his Steelers to a 37-36 win over the Packers in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. This monumental win keeps the Steelers in the running to make the playoffs, and if Roethlisberger continues to play like he has in late December, it's possible for Pittsburgh to become a wild card option in the AFC.
Vikings wake the hibernating Panthers: It's Julius Peppers who deserves most of the credit for Carolina's blowout win over Minnesota in Week 15, and Brad Childress' decision to consider benching Brett Favre during the game shows just how powerful Peppers can be. The defensive end carried the Panthers' defense during this spectacular Week 15 showdown, and the offensive combo of Jonathan Stewart and Steve Smith was enough to put the Vikings to shame.
Browns run all over Chiefs: Cleveland set all kinds of records in the team's Week 15 showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, and leading the way for the Browns' spectacular running game was Jerome Harrison, who rushed for a whopping 286 yards on 34 attempts. Harrison's huge yardage broke a franchise record, setting him just 11 yards short of breaking Adrian Peterson's league record in 2007.
Josh Cribbs followed Harrison's running ways in the game also, setting another team record for his kickoff returns for touchdowns of 100 and 103 yards. This kind of playing is what sells NFL tickets, and the Browns will be out for a repeat in Week 16, when they play the Oakland Raiders at home.
Ochocinco plays with heart: Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco opted out of wearing the late Chris Henry's No. 15 jersey in Sunday's game to commemorate his friend and teammate, but perhaps the most touching moment of the week was when the usually-flamboyant receiver made a touchdown in the Week 15 Cincinnati-San Diego game and dropped to his knees in the end zone, pointing to the sky in memory of 'Slim' Henry. He had tears in his eyes returning to the sidelines, showing the most emotion he's had this season. The Bengals went on to lose to the Chargers, but 85's touching moment was the most remembered part of the game.
Indy stays undefeated: In true form, the Indianapolis Colts came from behind and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-31 in a divisional showdown, leaving the Colts the only undefeated team in the league. This, of course, doesn't mean Jim Caldwell will play his starters in the final games of the season, but it does give Indianapolis bragging rights for now.
