Oak Park Toyota Dealership Attracts Gen Y' Buyers

Marketing research and consultancy firm for the automotive industry, AutoPacific, conducted their 10th annual comprehensive study of the youngest car buyers on the market. Gen Y' buyers, or those born since 1983, make up the largest generation since the baby boomers and have a large influence over automotive market trends. Roughly 63 million strong, Gen Y car buyers account for 25% of the new car market. AutoPacific's study strives to help auto manufacturers understand exactly what this segment of consumers is looking for and to identify what these buyers desire in future cars.

AutoPacific's study sampled over 42,000 new car and truck owners and found that Toyota is the number one preferred brand by Gen Y buyers. Research conducted on this generation of car buyers has shown that Gen Y buyers are more willing to accept a hybrid powertrain and are looking for vehicles equipped with the latest entertainment technology.

Toyota is an industry leader in producing sustainable mobility and advanced technology, which is likely why they are the most preferred brand among Gen Y buyers. Toyota holds five of the ten spots on MSN Autos' top ten list of most popular hybrids in America including the Prius at the number one spot.

The Prius first debuted at your Oak Park Toyota dealership in 1997 and was the first mass produced gasoline-electric hybrid. Since then, the car has remained a favorite among Chicago buyers with is super efficient gas mileage ratings, low cost and dependability. The most current Prius model uses Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology and achieve fuel economy ratings of 48 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway.

Also one of the most popular hybrids is the Camry hybrid which was introduced with a hybrid powertrain at your Oak Park Corolla dealer in 2007. The Camry hybrid makes the list on account of the fact that it looks and performs identical to the gasoline powered Camry and is distinguished only by it's engine and better fuel efficiency. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is paired with an electric motor which allows the car to reach 33 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

Toyota's commitment to sustainability and reputation for innovating technologies is are contributing factors to the automaker's appeal to Gen Y buyers.
