Mary Engle Pennington earned a name in the society by making some important invention in the frozen food industry

. She invented the process of keeping food such as vegetables, fruits and fish, frozen and fresh for a longer period of time. She became the first female member of the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers and also is one of the first female members of the American Chemical Society.

Beulah Henry is one of the great women inventors who contributed in many sectors including food sector. She has made amazing inventions in various fields and has received an extraordinary sum of 49 patents to her name. She received her first patent at the age of 25 for an ice cream freezer. A hand bag, an umbrella that has changeable snap on covers which can be changed to match outfits, Latho' a sponge to hold bar soap which can be opened and closed, and a machine to cut sponges are some of her popular inventions. She has also made some significant changes in educational field. Kiddie Klock' to teach children how to tell time, a board game to easily teach geography called Cross Country' are some of them. Another interesting invention from her is a toy called "Miss Illusion Doll". It comes with interchangeable costumes and accessories.

Bessie Blount, an African American from Virginia invented an unusual electrical/electronic apparatus for disabled people. It used to help them feed themselves. The system comes with support that allows people to keep the dish and bowl attached to the neck of the patient with braces. She received a patent for this invention in 1951. But the very next year she surrendered her rights to French government as she was unable to market it effectively.

Another marvelous figure among women inventors is Dr. Temple Grandin. She has a PhD in animal science and has made number of significant inventions in the animal science using behavioral principles to control animals. Dr.Grandin's center-track restraint system for cattle is still widely used in North America. She has designed them in a way that the animals remain calm and don't hurt themselves while it's being used.

Jeanie Low from Houston is yet another popular name among women inventors. She is also one of the youngest women inventors as received her first patent in 1992 when she was just a teenager. She is popularly known for her invention of "Kiddie Stool". Later she also invented folded and hinged stools that could be placed under the sink.

Foxfibre cotton is a special type of cotton that was invented by Sally Fox in late 1980's. Her invention bought a revolution in the textile industry. It was widely accepted the moment it was invented as it replaced the long and tedious process of bleaching and dying the white cotton to make colored fabrics.

Whitener or correction pen was invented by Bette Nesmith Graham. She invented the whitener while working as a secretary. Today it is one of the most widely used office supply in offices and among school and college children. Her invention came from necessity as they were struggling to retype everything whenever there was a mistake made. With whiteners thing became simplified and errors could be corrected easily. She received a patent for her invention in 1958.
