Self-Defense Items - Defending Oneself By Hurting But Not Killing Your Attacker
On the one hand, there are those with evil intentions against you and your belongings
, and you certainly want to protect yourself against them. To be clear, what's at stake here is your life and well-being, so make sure you hang on to them for dear life.
From another perspective, you might feel awful and could even wind up in jail should you kill your assailant during the incident. How do you accomplish such a delicate balancing act? Well, you apply these methods, of course!
Keep a Weapon on You That Can't Kill The use of a non-lethal weapon is highly recommended, these are designed to cause temporary harm to attackers so you have a chance to escape, but will not cause death. Once the attacker is in terrible pain on the floor, you will have the chance to run away and escape his clutches.
There are numerous non lethal weapons that are inexpensive and effective. These include pepper and mace sprays, electroshock devices like stun guns and stun batons as well as Tasers, and personal alarms. This can have the effect of driving the assailant away or it can render them immobile for that little bit of time you need to escape.
Don't Lose Sight of Your Plan to Escape
Verbal abuse and physical assault may be the first thing you think of in order to be vindictive toward the one who's been trying to hurt you. This exact reaction can however add fuel to the fire of the attacker and increase the severity of your confrontation.
When your attacker is hurt it might become riskier for you. So isn't this just the outcome you don't hope for?
So, when you see a chance to get out of there, don't hesitate -- do it! Just concentrate on saving yourself.
Lunge For the Soft Spots That Will Cause Pain But Not Death
Of course, there are situations where direct confrontation is the only way to go. Target vulnerable body parts of the agressor. Of course, these vulnerable areas should be carefully chosen so that you don't accidentally kill him.
First, you can aim for the genital area especially if your attacker is of the male gender. You should deliver a strong kick but be sure that you have the element of surprise on your side since most male attackers are prepared for such an attack. You could also kick the intruder in the groin, knees, or throat-these are all vulnerable areas. If you're wearing high heels, they can become the sharp stilettos that wreak damage on your assailant.
Next, you can take a blunt heavy object and hit him forcefully on the head, rendering him unconscious. Unless you have run out of options, you want to stay away from the use of pointed weapons like knives.
Thirdly, use your hands if they're free but your legs aren't free, to forcefully thumb him in the eyes. If this is done right, the attacker should be momentarily blinded, and the hold he may have had on you will be released so you can get out of there.
Run as fast as you can and shout as loud as you can away upon escape.
