Starcraft 2 Strategy - Terran Vs Zerg - How to Stop the Zergling Rush

Starting any game as Terran against a Zerg player one of the first things we think of the possibility of a Zerg rush

. Good Zerg players can win games against Terran by just using Zerglings with Metabolic Boost and Banelings. In this strategy guide I will teach you how to be prepared for and defeat this type of early attack.

Many Zerg players on Battlenet have mastered how to effectively use Zerglings to harass Terran players and run past our armies and attack our SCV line. These types of moves can be disaterous for our economy which can cause us to fall way behind economically and end up costing us the game. One of the first things we can do is use Supply Depots to block off the ramp entrance of our base. However, this will not be enough to stop a determined Zerg player who will use Banelings to break through the Depots and run in the base with Speedlings.

The best counter to this is build Hellions. Hellions are one of the best units for taking out Zerglings because they move the same speed as Zerglings and have a ranged attack. In order to get Hellions early in a game you will have to build a Factory fairly quickly and start producing them as quickly as possible when you discover the Zerg player making a lot of Zerglings and Banelings. For extra firepower get the Infernal Pre-Igniter ability to get an extra 10 damage against Light units like Zerglings and Banelings. When his force arrives try and harass his units with Hellions until he decides to attack. Once he decides to attack, keep kiting his units with your Hellions and attack from a distance. This method works great against those Zerglings pushes and gives you some nice harassing and scouting units for later in the game.
