. It is also useful when playing back videos or looking at photos captured with the 5 megapixel camera.
The handset has 2 gigabytes of internal storage memory for all those photos, videos and music alongside the contacts and other data to be stored. In addition it has Nand memory and expandable memory through a microSD card of up to 32 gigabytes. The phone book and SMS (text messages) memory are limited only to the available memory. The handset operates the Android 2.1 operating system (Eclair) and features both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity for the internet which provides fast access to the Chrome-lite flu HMTL web browser.
The Galaxy S has a 5 megapixel camera with digital zoom and auto focus along with a range of shot modes and photo effects which are offered before saving images in the JPEG image file format. Video recording is also a capability at 30 frames per second and 720 pixel resolution, DVD quality. A secondary VGA front camera is also present on this handset for video calling. Videos can be played back with the integrated video player also.There is also a full music library and music player to enjoy music from and an integrated FM radio with RDS support.
The email solution offered includes support for Google Mail (GMail) and other email accounts through the popular POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols respectively. Instant messaging with GTalk for chat is also present, as are text and multimedia messaging capabilities. The Thinkfree document viewer meanwhile, allows you to open and read office documents and PDFs, plus mobile printing through the Bluetooth 3.0 is also present. Other connectivity is offered with the location based services from the AGPS antenna and further file sharing capabilities provided by the USB 2.0 featured.
