Weave is Big Business
Make no mistake you can make tons of money if you are weavin, it up in your town. But, I know some of you stylists want to make money beyond the chair dont you??? Some of you are ambitious and want all of the pots of gold that you can get at the end of your rainbow. So we have a few suggestions that might help you reach that pie in the sky dream that so many dont believe you can achieve. Dont listen to those nay sayers. They are what we call haters. Plan your work and work your plan. Whether you are skilled at doing weaves/extensions or not, you can still profit from this world gone crazy over weaves industry. First of all, if you have exceptional weaving skills, dont undercharge for your service. Believe me, if one client wont pay for it, the next one will. So charge your worth and dont worry about the next salon down the street that is charging $60 for a weave. World renowned Educator and Technique Innovator Janel Sealy-Smith teaches a class about that called We Fix $60 Weaves.
Basically her philosophy is if they paid $60 for the weave most likely it wont last long and they will need you to clean up the damage it is probably doing to their hair. Now they have to pay twice as much because they will need a treatment on top of getting a new weave. Dont sell yourself short. You know your abilities; live up to them and make your clients recognize and pay for them. Now take your business a step further. By selling Hair Extensions and Weave Care products in your shop to your clients you will increase your income. Even if you are not a weave technician, you can still make weave/extension dollars by selling Extensions and Products (whether you are a booth renter or a salon owner, doesnt matter).
You know more about weave hair extensions than anyone else, and if you dont, get to learnin. There are classes all day long, in a plethora of different cities and states that teach you all about weaving/extensions (how to do it, the best hair to use, the best tools and products to use on the hair, etc.). Take ONE or TEN and get your weave game in order. Your clients trust you and listen to what you have to say. If you say it is good, they will believe you. Why send your customer down the block for hair when you can service all of their needs right from your chair with both hair and products they can use at home between salon visits, saving you and them time and money. Believe me they will appreciate you for it and send more customers your way. There are many programs and opportunities that exist for stylists to become distributors of Salon Only hair and product brands, like the EurAsian by Ovation Platinum 100% Virgin Hair Extensions Distributor or Referral Program @ http://www.clickonbeauty.com/. This program allows you to carry your own hair/extensions for resale at minimal to no cost to get started. Be about your business. Investigate opportunities via the Internet and at hair shows like Bronner Bros in Atlanta or International Hair Show in New Jersey. You never know who may have opportunities for you to increase your styling/salon income. If you are a stylist, that means you are about your business. Dont just settle for styling income, get your sells game on and expand your business beyond even your wildest expectations. Invest a little energy and a little money in taking your weave/extension business to another level of success. The end result will be a happier client and a wealthier YOU!!!
