His character is one of the better poster boys for psychologists.

Watching these characters on television provides a very romantic and noble view of the forensic specialist. Real life doesnt always work out as neatly as it does on television though, and if the only reason you are considering a forensic psychology degree is that forensics is the hot thing to do, it probably isnt going to be right for you. You have to understand that choosing this career path is going to require dedication. You are going to have to go to school for many years, get your advanced forensic psychology degree and your doctorate in order to become a forensic psychologist.

In addition to dedication, you have to have an actual passion for this type of work. You are going to want to have a love of psychology as well as the criminal justice system. Even though you are going to be able to make a very good living at this type of work, it should always be about more than just money. You want to find justice for those who have been victims of crime. You want to be able to make sure that those who have done terrible things are held accountable for their crimes. You also have to be willing to work with criminals and provide evaluations that could exonerate them or help to send them to their deaths.

It takes years to get the forensic psychology degree that you need, but it takes a very special person to be able to be a good forensic psychologist. From analytical skills to encyclopedic knowledge of psychology, you are going to have to bring your best to the table every time you are working on a case. If you have these things, and you believe that a forensic psychology degree is right for you, then you should get started looking for a school.
