Google Panda & Penguin Issues? Discover What You Need To Do Now

With Google Panda and now Penguin updates, whatever next

?! Google's algorithm updates always seem to cause widespread trouble amongst online marketers each time it happens. And more recently, they appear to be occuring more frequently. Is there anything that you can do?

Many people are complaining about their legitimate websites disappearing off the face of Google overnight, and many others reporting everything is fine, or even better in terms of ranking! So what's been happening. Well, from the emerging thoughts post-update, there is increasing evidence that for most people things are A ok, and if it isn't for you then you can take some steps to try and remedy the situation. All of Google's updates are to wash out the rubbish from their search results as they need to continue to provide quality and relevant search results to their users.

This is good news for those playing the game and understand what is required of them. As things start to settle, it is becoming clearer that you still need to provide good quality content on your website. And link building and SEO are not dead as some people seem to think. If we just work with Google then they can be your best friend. Here are 3 of the emerging thoughts about the Penguin saga!

1) Vary your anchor texts.

So, do not have your main keyword in every anchor text that you setup, this is a no-no and is likely to raise Googles flags. The thoughts of some leading marketers (who have been doing extensive split testing) is that you should probably use your main keyword about 25%-30% of the time in the anchor text, the rest being made up of LSI type keywords and call to action words.

For example, if your keyword is "dog training" you should use that in the anchor text about 25%-30% of the time, the rest time vary the anchor texts, examples of variations may include:

"puppy dog training"

"dog training tips"

"how to train your dog"

"yourdomain.com"

"visit the site"

So you can see the variety, some don't even have keywords in them like the call to action word "click here". This is a more natural way for linking to occur to a site and is how people general link to other sites.

2) Link diversity

It's becoming increasingly important to vary your link building sources. So just using high PR profile links will not cut it. Just using article directories will not cut it. You need to use every type of link source out there to vary your linking profile. So a little from everywhere is the order of the day. Again this is a more natural way links occur in the eyes of Google and it makes sense.

3) Link Relevancy

Finally, you need to be getting your links on related niche sites. So a dog training site, you could get links from a dog animal lovers forum, vetinary site, comment on a blog about animals and pets etc.

It would be very unnatual for say a car website to link to a dog training website. It wouldn't happen in the real world and this is an important aspect of link building.

So, there you go, Google are just cleaning up the space and those who play by their rules should be fine and do well. Those link spamming, then they will suffer the wrath of the Big G. Follw these simple steps, keep it natural, keep it safe!
