Motivation For Exercising
In fact, in most cases the amount of reading and writing done by the current generation has dropped significantly
. With the advent of television, video games, the Internet and computers, the days of reading a book and writing using longhand are slowly disappearing. You may wonder what this has to do with exercising. It actually has more to do with the motivation one needs to exercise, rather than the actual exercising itself. Most of us have the ability to exercise, but along with our lost art of reading books and writing letters longhand, the motivation to exercise is simply disappearing.
Finding motivation to exercise starts within you. We must look for an intrinsic motivation that will keep us moving towards our goals. The motivation to exercise for many people is as individual as the person. Some are motivated by the appeal of muscles, some are motivated by a healthier lifestyle, and for some people it is just about the internal addiction to those endorphins! All in all, the motivation to exercise can come from many different aspects of a personal value system, but it always starts from within.
Like many things, finding the motivation to exercise is not always as easy as it sounds. (Kind of like getting the younger generation motivated to read books!) With all the distractions that surround us, the excuses are many, and definite actions take positive focus and motivation. Focus, and to become focused, is the first part of finding that motivation. Allowing the distractions of modern society to slip away and to focus on what motivates the individual; this is how one overcomes all the excuses. For each individual, that focus may be a little different, but the important part is finding it and sparking your own motivation.
Visualisation is an important part of motivation, and it is essential to focus as well. Visualisation helps the individual to set desired goals. For example, if a person wishes to lose weight then they may picture what they want to look like and visualise the results. This person must however be careful in making sure that these results are attainable. Creating unattainable results will only discourage the individual, and kill their motivation. If the results are attainable, then the person will set upon a righteous path to success - filled with motivation!
Positive reinforcement and a positive attitude go a long way in helping to achieve desired goals. In fact it is positive thinking that brings about intrinsic motivation. The idea is to never give up and stay result oriented. Even if the result is not what you expected, the important part is staying motivated and keeping positive. Staying positively motivated will also strengthen your focus and vice versa. That is why having a positive outlook is so important.
At the end of the day only you can motivate you, and only you can blame you if that motivation disappears. Get out there, get focused, get positively motivated, and find the new you!
