Nfl Tickets - Texans, Jets Made Statements In Week Two
After the week two matchups, we know a little bit more about a few teams in the NFL
. Here are a few of the teams that made statements in week two.
Cincinnati Bengals:
The Bengals needed a good effort at home after dropping their first game against the Patriots. Against a very good Baltimore team that just beat the Jets last week, the Bengals matched the Ravens' defensive intensity and pulled out a 15-10 win to get their season headed in the right direction. For the Ravens, the game was certainly a difficult one following a short week after their "Monday Night /football" opener, but credit has to be given to the Bengals defense for stepping up and setting the tone.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Bengals aren't the only team in the AFC North to make a statement to the league in week two. After squeaking out a gutty win against the Falcons in week one, the Steelers then smacked the Titans in week two and are 2-0 with their franchise quarterback on the pine. Backup quarterbacks Dennis Dixon and Byron Leftwich haven't played spectacularly but have played good enough to win with a defense that looks to be among the elite units in the league. The Steelers could definitely win the division.
Atlanta Falcons:
Heading into the season, the Falcons were being touted as one of the teams that could potentially challenge the Saints for the NFC South. After a tough week one loss to the Steelers, however, the Falcons needed a big win in week two against the Cardinals. Well, the Falcons definitely answered the call, laying a 41-7 beat down on the Cards. Though running back Michael Turner left early with a groin injury, the Falcons still moved the ball at will and simply were no match for the Cardinals, who very easily could be 0-2.
New York Jets:
The media scrutiny surrounding Mark Sanchez's poor week one performance was perhaps a bit undeserved. Against the Pats at home, Sanchez had a huge comeback game, going 21 of 30 for 220 yards, three touchdowns and no picks. With Sanchez able to throw the ball down the field, the running game opened up and LaDainian Tomlinson again looked like the best back on the Jets' roster. The Jets couldn't lose their first two home games of the season and a two touchdown win against the Pats is a great way to make people forget about week one.
Miami Dolphins:
Outside of Brandon Marshall, the Dolphins don't have a lot of big names that sell a ton of NFL tickets. Still, the Dolphins went on the road against Minnesota and beat a desperate Vikings team that wanted to avoid 0-2. With a strong defensive effort, the Dolphins were able to pull out a grueling 14-10 win and they now sit in sole possession of first place in the AFC East.
Chicago Bears:
It wasn't always pretty, but the Bears pulled out a very solid 27-20 win on the road in Dallas to give them a 2-0 record. When not throwing to the other team, Cutler can be a very good quarterback and he made some throws that should remind fans that he may just have the best arm in the entire league.
San Diego Chargers:
The Chargers really don't want to have to come from way back once again in the division this season, which is why getting a nice easy win on their home field was necessary. Getting after David Garrard, the Chargers were able to force a few turnovers and run away with this one fairly early. A nice comeback after week one.
Indianapolis Colts:
Some seemed to overreact after the Colts lost their opening week matchup on the road against the Texans. Against a pretty good Giants team, the Colts dominated both sides of the ball and reminded everyone why they went to the Super Bowl last season. Peyton Manning is off to another great start and the Colts are unstoppable when they can run the ball effectively.
Houston Texans:
It wasn't exactly pretty, but you need to pull out tough games on the road to be successful in the NFL. Against the Redskins, that's exactly what the Texans did in week two. Down late in the game, the Texans went to their playmakers Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson to bring them back and force overtime then took care of business in the extra session. The Texans proved against the Colts that they can win by running the ball and reminded everyone against the Redskins that they are still a premier passing team.
