Starcraft 2 - Basic Protoss Strategy

The Protoss race is one of the most fun races in Starcraft 2 but it can also be the

most frustrating especially if you haven't mastered the correct starting build order. This strategy guide will explain how start the game off on the right foot with a perfect build order for Protoss.

When the game starts, begin by setting your 6 probes to work mining minerals as soon as possible. Start building probes at your Nexus, when the 9th Probe finishes take it to start building a Pylon then send him to mine minerals. Keep making Probes until you have 12 population then start making a Gateway. You should also start building an Assimilator at this time as well. When your Gateway finishes you should have 16 Probes. Starting building another Pylon and begin making Zealots.

Around this time you should also begin work on a Cybernetics Core which will allow you to build Stalkers. Once you start your Cybernetics Core you can keep making Probes and begin working on a second Assimilator and Gateway. From this point forward it's really up to you what you want to go. Typically if I'm facing a Zerg opponent I will build a few Sentries to stop Zerglings from running into my base. If I'm facing a Terran opponent I'll try to expand fast and harass them a little bit with Stalkers and Zealots.

However, one thing you should definitely get is a Robotics Facility. This building will allow you to get an Observer which is crucial because it allows you to scout your opponent so you know what your opponent is doing. It will also allow you to build either Immortals or Colossus. These units can handle almost every ground unit with ease. Colossus are great for massed smaller units and Immortals are amazing against heavily armored units such as Siege Tanks, Roaches, and Thors. Following this guide will allow you to have a great start in any game.
