Where to go while on vacation?

Spain can be a great holiday destination; on one hand, the beautiful cities and places are full of historical monuments. On the other hand, the modern buildings of this Iberian country will leave you breathless. The Canary Islands are also a huge Spanish attraction; very famous in the world, these islands offer magnificent views and a relaxing environment. The most important city in the Canary Islands is definitely Las Palmas; it is also the Grand Canariass capital, so its worth visiting.

La Vegueta

The old town of Las Palmas is called La Vegueta. A nice place for taking long walks, it was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. The old town has numerous coloured buildings and cobbled streets that date back centuries. Santa Ana Cathedral is the most important historical monument of this old town. Its design is very interesting, as there were architectural styles used. It holds many valuable paintings and sculptures; inside this old cathedral is a beautiful museum called Sacred Art Museum. Many artefacts can be admired here and the tourists shouldnt miss it while visiting Las Palmas.

The San Francisco church is the one which dominates another important attraction of Las Palmas, la Triana. Triana is located in the northern part of La Vegueta and in its centre youll find a special place for shopping: hundreds of shops, stalls and boutiques lie on Mayor Street.

Casa Museo de Colon

One of the most famous buildings in the Canary Islands is the house called Museo de Colon. It was believed to be the place where Christopher Columbus spent some years, so it is very popular with many annual visitors. Once with the passing of time, it became a museum which houses some old maps and other objects used by the great explorer. Next to this house is the Museum Canario, where you can find great collections of antique objects! Plaza de Espirito houses a great fountain in its centre; being visited by many tourists annually, it is a square full of historical places.

Superb beaches of Canary Islands

Being a city placed on an island, it has many known and nice beaches, where you can spend some lovely days. Beside the great sand, water and sun, you can visit the bars and the pubs placed around these beaches. And if you dont feel like doing any of those, then go and see a great movie in the cinema complex; choose a Spanish one, to be sure that youll enjoy a real Spanish holiday.
