Zerg Build Order Tactics For Starcraft 2
Arranging the correct Zerg Build Orders will have a huge effect on the outcome of the game
. Winning or losing in battle can be determined by minor but vital changes in your Zerg build order. Below are 2 of my favorite build orders and a general guideline for all your build orders. Both of them can be effective when playing against various races, depending on the map and your opponents game plan. Don't forget to spy on your enemy as you develop your build orders. Make sure to read the most effective
Zerg scouting guide as well. Depending on what your scouts find, it may be wise to adjust your build.
Be certain to focus on your macro as a Zerg. The Zerg's production capacities need to be watched carefully, because unlike the Protoss and Terran they produce both workers and fighters from the same resource. For help in getting the highest production out of your workers and maximizing your economy, be sure to review these
Zerg Macro Tactics. The Zerg can choose to entirely focus on generating either workers or soldiers, while the other races spawn both simultaneously. The number of Hatcheries you create and the Larva that come from them become the most important factor for your build. To really bring your game to the next level, take a look at this incredible
Starcraft 2 Shokz Strategy Guide.
Zerg Build - Early BattleThe set of build orders below can be utilized against every enemy of any race, and will get you to mid-game in good position.
At the start, you should pay attention on your economy and resource generation, so don't mess around with Extractor tricks. Start with nine Overlord - it's significantly more effective than ten Overlord.
At 12, send out your first scouting Drone.
13 Spawning pool is way faster (about five seconds) than 14 Spawning pool, which makes a big difference against six pools or proxy gates.
It also means you are 5 seconds earlier on zergling speed or a baneling nest.
14 Overlord
Save larva
At this point you should spawn up to six Zerglings. Have them out on the offensive soon to either get into the enemy headquarters if he hasn't walled up yet, or surround his first few soldiers.
Drones take them off of Vespine gas after you accumulate 100
Hatchery and Overlord when you hit 22 food
Once your initial larva injection is done, begin mining gas once again with your drones.
Except for small maps against a Terran, you almost always should build a second base soon so you can generate more Larva. A single Hatchery cannot produce enough Larva. This will greatly assist your economy because there is greater efficiency in mining time for each unit.
Zerg Build - Drones Early
The initial purpose of this Zerg build order tactic is to produce ten Drones as early as possible.
After you build the Drones, build an Overlord, and then 3 additional Drones, and wait until you max out at 200 minerals.
Once you've accumulated the 200 minerals, build a Spawning Pool. The Spawning Pool is a primary target your opponent will try for, so make sure to place it in a place that's hard to attack. Place 3 Drones in your Extractor as you wait for the Spawning Pool to finish. Keep producing additional Drones until the Spawning Pool is complete. As soon as its completed, get a Queen out that instant, and then some 'lings and additional Drones.
Store 100 gas and then upgrade the Spawning Pool with the Speed Boost.
To protect your base, build a Baneling Nest with several Banelings. Banelings are excellent at defending your base and killing off attackers.
