Nfl Tickets - Fantasy: Top Week 1 Performers
Here are the players that started the 2010 NFL season on a high note from a fantasy football perspective:
Arian Foster, Running Back, Houston Texans: Foster was the biggest fantasy story of the weekend, rushing for 231 yards and three touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts. Now, we're still now sure how much this had to do with Foster's ability and how much was due to a suspect Colts run defense, but either way it was darn impressive. Foster was a big sleeper coming into the season and there's little chance he's available in most leagues. He could end up being one of the best value picks in fantasy this season and looks like a player worth getting NFL tickets to see in person.
Matt Forte, Running Back, Chicago Bears: Forte has looked like there is life back in his legs, but without one huge reception against the Lions he would have had a pretty pedestrian fantasy day. I'm not quite ready to buy back into him just yet.
Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts: Manning put up huge numbers because the Colts were forced to abandon the run early in an effort to come back against Houston. Still, Peyton puts up numbers every week, whether the Colts are behind or leading. Owners will enjoy his consistency.
Chris Johnson, Running Back, Tennessee Titans: Picking right up where he left off, Johnson reminded people why he was the number one pick in most fantasy drafts this preseason. Barring an injury, he should have a great year.
Chad Ochocinco, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals: It looked like T.O. was going to be the top target in Cincy this preseason, but Ochocinco was the man against the Pats. The Bengals were forced to throw a lot in an effort to come back against New England, so don't expect this every week, but owners have to be encouraged that Chad is still the number one.
Hakeem Nicks, Wide Receiver, New York Giants: Nicks hauled in three touchdowns against the Panthers, furthering the notion that he's the G-Men's big play and red zone threat. He could be a beast if he can stay consistent.
Austin Collie, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts: Collie hauled in 10 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown against the Texans, but much of it came on one huge play. Still, 10 catches is 10 catches, no matter what the situation. Don't expect him to outscore Reggie Wayne this season or anything, but he could be useful.
Miles Austin, Wide Receiver, Dallas Cowboys: Austin did his best to make the Cowboys happy that they just locked him up with a new contract. He's a stud.
Darren McFadden, Running Back, Oakland Raiders: McFadden was the lone bright spot for the Raiders in week one. He did great running the ball and as a receiver in Michael Bush's absence. He could end up being a great value pick if he hangs on to the starting job.
Wes Welker, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots: Welker might not be 100 percent, but he's healthy enough to be a big part of the New England offense, which he proved by hauling in a pair of touchdowns on eight total receptions.
