Starcraft 2 Strategy - Terran Vs Terran

Before any match starts, there is several things you want to take into consideration:

The Map

The Map Size

What your ranking is relative to your opponent (who was favored to win?)

You want to take special note of who was favored to win because many times, the favored players will be more confident and take on the roll of the aggressor, quite often this means quicker attacks. It is possible to take advantage of this. In this strategy guide will look into two strategies you can use against a Terran opponent in 1v1 ladder games.

If you are not favored, consider making a move to Siege Tanks. Once you have completed your first Barracks start working on your Factory. You should get a few Marines to stop harassing Reapers. Throw down your second Refinery fairly early as you are going to need the extra gas. Once your factory is complete, start building your Starport. While your Starport is being built get a Fusion Reactor for your Factory. When your Fusion Reactor finishes lift your Factory off and move it a little further into your base. Around this time you should build another factory and attach a Tech Lab onto your recently moved Factory. When your Starport is done, attach it to the Fusion Reactor your Factory left behind and start making two Vikings so you can counter any Banshees your opponent makes. When your Tech labs on your Factories finish, it's time to start building Siege Tanks. You should also research Siege Mode for your tanks as soon as possible. Combining Mauraders and Siege Tanks can be a deadly combination. However, you should also have a formidable force of Vikings to fight off enemy air units. Once you have a five Siege Tanks you can either expand or launch an attack. Vespene Gas is definitely a limiting factor to this strategy so make sure you always have a lot available to you.

Another effective strategy is to harass your opponent while expanding to a second and third base. When you finish your first Barracks it's a good idea to build a few Marines to stop an early rush or Reapers. Afterwords, move quickly to build your second Refinery and Factory. Once your Factory is complete, begin producing Mauraders and Hellions. When you have finished making six Hellions and four Mauraders you should start harassing your opponent. If your opponent is planning to expand early, your force will be effective at stopping that. At this point you should try and expand. Try and get another Barracks and mass some Mauraders and Marines to help protect your expansion. If your harassing is working against your opponent, you should start playing very aggressively and build and Factory and a Starport and push the attack.
